In Eastern Europe, Christianity is the largest religion. Christianity makes up approximately 84% of people's religion. Out of that 84%, most people are Eastern Orthodox in Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Moldova, Romania, and Bulgaria, and in Poland, the Czech Republic, Hungary, and Slovakia, most Christians are Roman Catholic. It appears that the farther West one goes in Eastern Europe, the more people are Catholic. The Ottoman Empire brought with them Islam as they attmpted to take over Eastern Europe left Islam and it still exsist today. The number of atheists and agnostics has gone up around the world and it shows with the numbers in Eastern Europe. In the early 20th century, the number of Jews in Eastern Europe was much higher than it currently is. This decline is as a reslut of anti- sematism in the region along with the Holocost, which had a large impact on the Jews in the more western parts of Eastern Europe.
