Minsk Victory Square - This square with its obelysk commemorates Belarus' independence after World War II. National Library of Belarus - Finished in 2006, the Library holds an extensive collection of books and has its notable rhombicuboctahedron shape. Bulgaria Rila Monastery - This building was originally established in the 10th century and is a point of religion and culture. Plovdiv Old Town - The city of Plovdiv is very old, and some architecture still exists from old times. Many buildings have Roman-influenced designs. Czech Republic Charles Bridge - The Bridge was built in 1357 and offers a wonderful view of the Old Town in Prague. It is built on the Vltava River. Prague Castle - The Prague Castle holds the Guinness World Record for largest castle complex. It has many magnificent structures from multiple time periods. Hungary Budapest Christmas Fair - Every year there is the Budapest Christmas Fair. There are many cultural foods and music performances during this event. Matthias Church - The Matthias Church was originally built in1255. It has a magnificently decorated interior. Moldova Dendrarium Park - Moldova's Dendrarium Park has lots of plants and flowers and a lake. It is a nice place to relax. Old Orhei - This archaeological size has many old stone structures as well as beautiful landscape. Poland Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum - The site of the most infamous concentration camp of the Holocaust, the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum is a good tourist attraction for anyone wanting to learn more about World War II or the Holocaust. Live Museum of Gingerbread - At the Live Museum of Gingerbread, attendees can learn about gingerbread and even learn how to make their own gingerbread. Romania Peles Castle - Completed in 1883, the Peles Castle has an intricately designed and ornate interior filled with many antiques and artifacts. Herăstrău Park - In stark contrast to urban Bucharest, Herastrau Park provides a beautiful natural landscape on which locals relax and enjoy the day. Russia St. Basil's Cathedral - St. Basil's Cathedral is an iconic landmark of Moscow, and for good reason. Originally completed in the 1500s, the multicolored domes of the cathedral appear truly magnificent. Peterhof Palace - Another notable structure in Russia is the Peterhof Palace. It has wonderful gardens and is often a site for fireworks. Slovakia Spiš Castle - The Spiš Castle is build on a large outcrop of rock and is one of the largest castles in Central Europe. Inside are various artifacts. Demänovská Cave of Liberty - This cave is part of the largest cave system in Moldova. Inside there are many colorful rock formations and stalactites. Ukraine Kiev-Pechersk Lavra - This monastery was originally built in 1051 and is a cultural center of Christianity. Andriyivski Uzviv - This descending street in Kiev is the location of a few historic buildings and is subsequently a popular tourist attraction. |
